A network is when two or more things are connected together so they can share information or work together. In ICT (Information and Communication Technology), a computer network is when computers are connected so they can share files, messages, internet, printers, and more.
TYPES OF NETWORK
1. LAN (Local Area Network)
This is a small network. It connects computers in one place, like a school, home, or office.
Example: The computers in your school’s computer lab.
2. MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)
This is a bigger network. It connects computers in a large town or city.
Example: Computers in different branches of a bank in Accra.
3. WAN (Wide Area Network)
This is the biggest type. It connects computers across cities, countries, or even the world.
Example: The Internet is a WAN.
4. PAN (Personal Area Network)
A Personal Area Network (PAN) is a small network used by one person.
It connects devices like phones, tablets, laptops, and earphones that are close to each other.

1. They help us share things like files and printers.
2. They help us communicate quickly using email or chat.
3. They help us save money by sharing one internet or printer.
4. They help people work together better.
